Direct Stain Technique for timber flooring
Don’t you just love the look and feel of a beautiful timber floor? Most clients utilize the timber floor they have or through a builder during a renovation or construction, they’ll choose a specific species generally because of its colour.
As an alternative, Australian Dustless Floorsanding provides an opportunity for you to recreate a totally different look to your timber floors or cork tiles. By utilizing a direct stain technique to the sanded, raw timber we can transform it into a completely new style of colour before we apply your 3 coats of BONA.
As most staining darkens the appearance of timber floors, the range of colours can be endless. However it is interesting to note clients tend to favour one of 3 main options being Jacobean, Nutmeg and Antique Brown. When you are trying to bring out nature’s best, staining direct can be as subtle or intense as you need it to be. Other clients are looking for a white wash effect which is gorgeous. Again it can be as solid or as light as you need it to be. Old rustic floors can be totally transformed by resanding and stain direct to give it new life. Darren will liaise with you to arrange colour solutions and fine tune the perfect colour choice for your particular setting or style. For waterborne systems we recommend BONA Drifast wood stain.
The versatility of timber floors is that your existing floorboards, engineered floor or parquetry can also be resanded in years to come if you change your decore or styling or want to eventually go back to the original colour. They really are long term floors and with the right advise and care you shouldn’t really have to resand them for 20+ years – just topcoat them as needed.
