Team Dustless

Australian Dustless Floorsanding is a family business that developed from a successful, long running Melbourne floor sanding company. Darren and Lisa are a husband and wife team where Darren progressed from being a cabinet maker to creating Accent Floors, the original timber floor sanding company back in 1989. Prior to that Darren was a cornet player in the Australian Army Band Corp. Lisa started working on the administration of Accent Floors in the early 90’s and became the Business Manager as it quickly grew. Over time the business developed into 5 teams plus Darren. Along with sanding, we specialised in Parquetry flooring, Cork, Engineered floors and solid Timber flooring installations – all things timber floors. 

We had always been interested in the broader choice of timber flooring options. Over 750 floors a year taught us a lot about how to do it, do it better, and time to work out there had to be a healthier way to create beautiful timber floors for our clients. Australian Dustless Floorsanding was determined to modify the trade so it didn’t have such an horrendous effect on staff, clients, furniture and products as well as the environment. In the past, floor sanding fumes and dust also impacted on neighbours and adjoining businesses – but no more.

With his own shed full of power tools since he was 10 – Darren’s love of timber is interrupted only by Taekwondo (He’s a 3rd Dan Blackbelt), and fishing. Darren also enjoys 4WDing trips suspiciously planned around fishing opportunities, down hill mountain bike adventures and his love of music (being a cornet & trumpet player since the age of 7). Catch and release fishing appeals to Darren and we occasionally get to enjoy some Tuna from the regular Portland Fisho Fests.

Lisa comes from a Management and Admin background along with Early Childhood Education focused employment and volunteering for specialised children’s groups. Busy with extended family, Project Management, and the Emerald Emergency Support Team, she has little time to ponder the lack of results from all these fishing trips.

Our fantastic head sander Connor has been working with the company since he was a young apprentice. He has settled in to become our Champion sanding team. Apart from loving work – he enjoys time with family & mates, 4WDing, Camping, or occasionally fishing with the boss. Big thanks to James for helping us out as needed even though he’s officially retired from Floor sanding.

Australian Dustless Floorsanding is very pleased to have Julie as our long serving Bookkeeper and Office Admin support. Julie is not a fan of fishing.
